'Whilst covering many different sports, as a photographer, over the last fifteen years, I became increasingly aware of the lack of diversity amongst my colleagues in the various media centres and decided it was time for change.
Research proved that many things were a barrier for new talent to get into any various aspects of sports or live event media. For example, for a photographer, significant investment is required in professional equipment to obtain the quality of images required by publications.
For most aspects of sports media experience is essential to gaining accreditation but cannot be obtained without initial gaining access to the events.
Furthermore, whilst there is a widespread desire to promote diversity and inclusion in most sports, very little in the way of programs or promotion existed, or for example facilities for disabled photographers at sports events'
Faced with these issues we decided if we were to introduce a mentoring program with professionals from all aspects of sports media including photography, journalism, TV & Radio and Social Media.
Initial discussions with high profile sports have been very positive with some sports, including MotoGP, have already partnered with Click Diversity and candidates have already experienced working as media photographers at Grands Prix.
Click Diversity aims to help any individual or group who is under represented or have not been given the same opportunities. We are constantly adding new groups to our portfolio but some of the groups already planned to be in the project are;
